I have been selected for a committee at work, so I have a late meeting on Monday. Wednesday is Halloween. This is shaping up to be a busy week!

I went to lunch with a friend and afterwards, we went to a strange little soda fountain/antique shop. I got this neat little Haviland Limoges bone dish.

Ralph had an episode of vestibular syndrome a few weeks ago, but she is doing okay now. Poor girl is getting older, and things aren't as easy as they used to be.

It is fall break for me this week, but since we give written evaluations at my school, I will spend much of my time writing those. Also, it is college application time for my seniors, and I am writing recommendation letters for several of them. Still, I plan to try to do some more elaborate cooking this week.

I was looking at this little figurine when I was home over the summer. She was with my old Strawberry Shortcake miniatures. She is the same size as the SSC miniatures, but she is a different plastic. Then I thought she was a Jellybean Doll, because she was clearly made in the same mold as the Very Cherry Jellybean Doll and she has Lanard markings on her back. As it turns out, she is the Yummy Yellow Crayon Doll miniature also produced in the early 1980s by the Lanard toy company and made in the same molds as the Jellybean dolls. It took me a while to figure it out, but I'm pretty sure everything is available on the internet if you just keep searching.

It is the last week of the term for me, and I have lots of work to do this week, updating grades and such. Darren is lucky enough to have Columbus day as a holiday, so he is going to do some cooking and prep work for this week.

New house!

Recipe Review: Spicy Chicken and Sausage Pasta

We made this recipe from Beyer Beware a few night ago. I modified it slightly. You can find a printable of my version here. This pasta was delicious! Darren and I both really liked it, and I had leftovers for lunch for two days, and it was really good reheated. We will definitely be eating this again!

How is it October already? It feels like fall at 5:00 or 6:00 am when I let the dog out, but otherwise, it's still hot here in the desert. Still, I am ready to start making heartier dishes...
